Imagine
Taking your daughter’s hand and laughing as you walk down the sidewalk for no reason at all… just because it’s a beautiful day.
Exploring plants and bugs with your son, not worrying that it’s muddy or chilly outside… because he wants to play.
Sitting down as a family to discuss the day’s events over a meal… because talking to your spouse and children keeps you involved.
Impressing on your daughter that manners and self-respect matter… because some day she will expect great things from herself and the mate she ultimately chooses to share her life with. She will be the example.
The above sounds ideal. But some children and/or parents do not get the chance to think about those things because they are worried about when or what their next meal will be. Some stress over the tattered clothes they have to wear each day. Others simply don’t get the opportunity to a achieve higher education because they suffer from neglect and/or abuse that prevents them from being a part of school.
I have been very fortunate that my job as a stay-at-home mother allows me to love, nurture and grow with my children every day, in my own unique way. But because I feel that I can do more than give to my own children, I am getting involved with 2 organizations that have proven to be wonderful tools for children and adults that need a helpful hand: The DePelchin Children’s Organization and the Champion’s Kids Camp Organizations. They are exactly the types of places where kids and adults can learn to be healthy, productive and self-esteemed people in the home and in mainstream society.
Family Values and the positive effects of getting more involved with your children is my passion. Through whichever avenue they are taught and learned, they are all a part of the awesome ties that bond. They are all a part of what children and adults need in order to pay it forward to the next generation. Ultimately, the people involved help create a tree of learning and understanding that is unparalleled.
My personal goal and hope is that I can successfully help as many of these children, adults and families in at least one area of their lives. The work will be hard but the experience and knowledge I gain… immeasurable. I am looking forward to it!
